Blogs are reaching further and further into our everyday lives.  From personal blogs, to causes, to real-time news blogs are becoming one of our go-to places to find information.  Individuals aren’t the only ones following blogs though, news organizations (yes, even the big ones in New York) are picking up articles off blogs or finding information to help them generate content.  If you have always wanted to learn who to blog, then read on.

Blogmaster General was created to educate anyone who always wanted to learn about blogs but didn’t want to fork over the cash for the self help books and doesn’t consider themselves an idiot or dummy.  My site will hopefully allow anyone to follow along and grasp the basics of starting and maintaining a blog. 

I will also get into different applications to use to create the blog, different services and their costs, etc.  Once I have shown everyone what there is out there and how to set one up, I will get into how to make money from blogging.  The best part is I will be steering us all that way from the beginning, so there won’t be any re-work necessary.  If anyone wants to make money with their blog, they can still follow and along with making money as one of their goals.  The setup process and tools available are generally the same for all types of blogs, it is just the subject matter and how you maintain and promote the blog that will be different.

You can start from the beginning, skip ahead, or review any posts as necessary.  All our postings are archived available for review anytime.  No subscription necessary.  We are going to start off slowly until we build some readership, then post more often.  Also, this allows all our readers to take their time setting up and thinking what they want to do with their blog.  This initial process is one of the most important parts so we don’t want to rush things.  A little foresight and taking our time initially will pay in the end. 

So, if you are as fed up with calling yourself a dummy or an idiot and buying all those books only to get nowhere, follow along with the rest of us and start reading my blog.

“Ben” is the handle I am using on this blog.  The name Ben was chosen because Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General, and Ben starts with B as does the name of my site.  I have 5 blogs running right now where I am the primary author.  So, to keep things straight in my head and to keep comments, postings, and other items relevent to a specific blog on task, I have a different handle for each of my blogs.  You can find out more about me and the other blogs I run in my About Us page on Johnny Optimist.

Background specific to Blogmaster General:

I have created a couple other blogs (beyond the five mentioned above).  I am also the administrator for several others (you will find their addresses on the About Us page on Johnny Optimist as well).  I have taught those site owners how to use the software.  On top of those, I act as a hosting reseller for a couple more sites who happen to be using WordPress.  I created a “how to” manual for those customers.  That how-to manual was for WordPress 2.0 and we are now above 2.7 and the changes are so significant between the versions that my how-to manual needs to be updated – otherwise I would offer it here.
