Establish a routine to get ahead

When you are marketing your product online, be sure to frequently revisit the websites you comment on. If they have a RSS feed for their posts, go ahead and subscribe. This way you know when a new article is posted and you can go join the conversation. Some sites even have a Top Commentors section so a consistent presence could put you on that list.
Another option is to simply create some bookmark folders and each day go to each site you have bookmarked. This might be an easier way since then you can also comment on the comments if a new post hasn’t been made. As I have mentioned before, adding value to the conversation is really the key though.
Also stay on the lookout for new articles in your niche. Passing along new information about the latest gadget or the latest book published by a similar author or a book signing coming up are all great ways to appeal to your audience. You can also parlay that into comments on other’s sites and soon you will be seen as the expert.
If you happen to go that book signing, or go see a band in your niche, be sure to Tweet about it and write a post or two about it. If you can meet the band or meet the author, try and slip in the name of your website to them, or pass them your business card. Who knows, maybe they will look it up and like what they see. Nothing can launch a site better than publicity from someone who already has followers / fans. Also, if you are in that niche, be sure to where one of your shirts or hats or other Mitchendise. By doing that, everyone in line behind you has to stare at www.BlogmasterGeneral.com a couple hours and you never know who their friends are. Of course if you are standing in line for a couple hours you will know how their friends are because you will be talking to them right?
The more automatic you make it, the easier it will be for you to remember to always have business cards handy, or always stay on top of the latest event where you could get your name out there.
